WELCOME
I grew up with a camera in my hands.
Although he made his living as a professional engineer, my father was an avid amateur photographer with a talent for the portrait and the photo essay. At age 10, I was shooting with a 35 mm SLR camera. By the time I entered high school, I had graduated to a Hasselblad medium format rig, which I used as a contributor to my high school newspaper and yearbooks. My dream was always to work as professional photographer. I fully expected to earn my living with my camera, but it would not be until after an award-winning career in architecture and design that I would turn to photography as my full time profession.
I am glad I waited.
My professional training in design and architectural photography informs my work as a wedding and portrait photographer in a way that I would never have expected. I have also worked as a freelance photojournalist and a documentary photographer, covering a wide range of assignments in the US and abroad.
For the past three years I have been ranked in the top 5% of wedding photographers in the Washington, DC area. In 2008, I was featured in Elan Magazine for my documentary portraits. In 2010, my portrait images were used as the stage backdrop for a New York concert headlined by Wyclef Jean. In October 2011, I was the featured photographer in the Good Works section of Professional Photographer Magazine, the leading magazine for wedding and portrait photographers in the US. Recently, I photographed the first wedding at the new Arena Stage in Washington.
I balance my work between wedding and portrait photography and freelance editorial and photojournalism assignments. To say I am living my dream would be an understatement.
